Hey you, welcome to Broke Girls World!

This blog started when I took off on my very first solo trip through Southeast Asia. I had no real plan, just a backpack, a tiny budget, and a lot of curiosity. The second I landed, I was in love. A few years and nearly 30 countries later, I’ve turned that passion into a platform for fellow adventure-lovers who crave connection, culture, and a whole lot of fun!

Broke Girls World is a travel community for people who want to explore the world without breaking the bank. Here, you’ll find budget-friendly tips, honest travel stories, and guides to help you go from “dreaming about it” to actually doing it. Whether you’re a newbie backpacker or a seasoned traveler, you’re in the right place.

I believe travel should be ethical, sustainable, and open to everyone. So let’s ditch the excuses and make unforgettable memories, on a budget.

ABOUT ME

Im Noah! A 20-something Dutchie chasing dreams and avoiding rent...

A few years ago, I booked my first solo trip (terrified and excited at the same time), and it completely changed my life. Since then, I’ve been figuring out how to see as much of this beautiful world as possible, without going broke in the process.

Travel can seem crazy expensive! And as a student, I know what it’s like to count every euro. But honestly? It is totally doable. I’ve stayed in cozy hostels, eaten the best street food for just a few coins, and made lifelong friends along the way, all on a budget!

That’s why I started Broke Girls World. To show that travel isn’t just for the rich. It’s for all of us. This blog is where I share my real, unfiltered experiences: the magical, the messy, and everything in between. My goal? To help you plan unforgettable adventures that don’t cost a fortune and to build a community of curious, kind, and conscious travelers.

So whether you’re dreaming of your first backpacking trip or looking for new ways to travel, you’re in the right place.

Disclaimer

When I talk about budget travel, I mean finding thoughtful, practical ways to save money, such as planning ahead, traveling slower, or making conscious choices about where to spend and where to cut costs. What I do NOT support is saving money at the expense of local communities or trying to bargain people down to unfair prices.

I was born in Europe and recognize the privilege that comes with that. Many destinations that are considered “cheap” today are shaped by long histories of exploitation, colonialism, and unequal economic systems. Places like Suriname, for example, carry those histories in ways that still affect daily life and local opportunity. As visitors, we have a responsibility to understand this context, to educate ourselves, and to engage with respect. We are guests. That means paying fair prices, valuing people’s time and labor, and contributing positively to the places we are lucky enough to experience.
